Menopause spotting is when you experience a few drops of random bleeding. It can be blood spots while in other cases it can be brownish spots. It is common for women who are about to enter this phase to experience this form of bleeding. This scenario can be alarming especially when you have never experienced bleeding before. This should however not scare you because it is something that can be dealt with. Spotting and vaginal discharge are common although it is important to see a doctor because they can sometimes be an indicator of a more serious health problem.

As you approach your mid forties, the hormones in your body change considerably and you will stop ovulating. Rather than experience a regular monthly period, you may find that the bleeding lasts for only a few days. In some cases, it can be preceded by a few days of spotting.

Even when you have completely stopped having your period, you may at first experience spotting. This is normally due to the hormonal changes in the body that make the vagina to change in size. When this happens, you will also experience vaginal dryness as well as a decreased sexual desire.

If you experience vaginal pain that is accompanied by spotting, it can be a sign of a serious problem such as uterine cysts. You should immediately see a doctor for a proper diagnosis. Declining levels of estrogen are the main cause of menopause spotting although sometimes it can be a symptom of uterine cancer.
