Menopause is something that happens to every woman. It is a natural part of life. The average for women who enter menopause is 52. Menopause can occur between the ages of 30 into the 60s. Menopause is different for each woman. It can occur quietly or it can be quite dramatic. Mostly, menopause is changes in a woman's reproductive system.
Menopause represents a womenâ??s fertility lost. During itsâ?? lifetime a women loses a small percentage from the up to 3 million ovarian follicles, that she has at her birth, through normal ovulation. Around the age of menopause women have fewer than 10.000 eggs, because most of their eggs die through artresia.
Some women may have a hard time because of the changes in hormone levels during menopause. Premature menopause (or premature ovarian failure) is defined as menopause occurring before the age of 40; it occurs in 1% of women. Other causes of premature menopause include autoimmune disorders, thyroid disease, and diabetes mellitus.
Oophorectomy and total hysterectomy are causes of early menopause due to surgery. The patient experiences premature menopause after removal of both of the ovaries, -and this is called a bilateral oophorectomy- or removal of the uterus, both fallopian tubes, and both ovaries, operation called total hysterectomy. As a result of these operations, progesterone levels plunge, and menopause appears right away.

Progesterone is another naturally occurring hormone in the female body and many studies have suggested that correcting progesterone imbalances can help alleviate menopause.
