By: Michael Kightlinger
Recent studies and researches have proved that hormone therapy (HT) is the best treatment for those who are suffering from early menopausal symptoms. If a woman has a uterus then this therapy should include both estrogen and progesterone since the latter gives protection against uterine cancer. Those who have gone through hysterectomy need only estrogen as a part of the hormone therapy.

This therapy not only gives relief from the symptoms but also acts as guard against osteoporosis. Many women are apprehensive of the hormone therapy because of the reports that these therapies increase the risk of cancer, cerebral attack and heart disease. Though it is partially correct, however, it mostly applies to older women.

Young women with early menopause in fact, get benefited from these therapies in many ways. Also it is seen that older women who have started this therapy within few years of menopause and are still under 60, do not have risks of heart disease. But if you have a history of heart disease or breast cancer and blood clots then the hormone therapy is not for you.

Since the risk of using estrogen increase with age, it is recommended that the lowest dose should be given for the shortest time possible to relieve the symptoms. Thus the women who suffer from early menopause which might be natural or induced the treatment can be continued till the women reach the natural menopause age. Then the doctor will reassess whether she needs to continue the treatment any further.

There are various types of hormone therapy used for early menopause. The most popular one is the systemic hormone therapy which is till date regarded as the best treatment for the early menopause symptoms. It has effects on various organs of the body and therefore it offers treatment for the whole body. It is available in various forms such as oral pills, lotion, vaginal ring, mist, gel, or patches that can be directly applied to the skin.

Those who suffer from symptoms like vaginal dryness or painful intercourse can use the direct application of estrogen cream or low dose ring to the vagina or vulva. This localized treatment involves lesser risks as the estrogen absorbed by body is much less in quantity. Another type of hormones which are used nowadays is bioidentical hormones. These hormones are so named, because these products have identical chemical structures as the hormones that are produced by the body. There are many bioidentical hormones present in the market that are approved by FDA which are safe for use. However, there are others which are not regulated by FDA and hence should not be used.

<a

Menopause happens because the woman’s ovary stops producing the hormones estrogen and progesterone.

Menopause, the time when a woman stops having menstrual periods, is not a disease or an illness. It is a transition between two phases of a woman’s life.

Read more on Menopause Home Remedies and Menopause Supplements and Increase Sperm Count

Many women experience a variety of symptoms as a result of the hormonal changes associated with the transition through menopause.

Around the time of menopause, women often lose bone density and their blood cholesterol levels may worsen, increasing their risk of heart disease.

The word “menopause” literally means the “end of monthly cycles” from the Greek word pausis (cessation) and the root men- (month), because the word “menopause” was created to describe this change in human females, where the end of fertility is traditionally indicated by the permanent stopping of monthly menstruation or menses.

However, menopause also exists in some other animals, many of which do not have monthly menstruation [1]; in this case, the term is synonymous with “end of fertility”.

Menopause is widely known as the permanent physiologic end of menstrual cycles as a result of declining ovarian functions.

During this period, the reproductive function progressively diminishes and ends. Women often find that menopause causes a significant change in their life, since it marks the end of their ability to bear children and other physical changes.

This role change can be very dramatic and stressful to many women.

Menopause Symptoms

Menopause symptoms are part of a natural biological process experienced by all women as their child-bearing years come to an end.

Early menopause or premature menopause can occur and for a variety of reasons. Conception is still possible even though your body is in the midst of ceasing your menstrual periods. This is rare but conceptions do occur. Periods are irregular so it is not easy to tell when you are in your fertile phase. Some women continue ovulating even though their periods seem to have ended.

Causes of Early Menopause

Early menopause can be caused by auto immune disorders. They can attack a normal reproductive system and prevent the production of female hormones (estrogen and progesterone).

Women have one active and one inactive X chromosome. Defects in the X chromosome can result in Fragile X Syndrome. A defect in the inactive chromosome can lead to early menopause and conception despite early menopause can occur. When women have ceased having their periods for a full year or longer, they can no longer get pregnant the natural way.

Chemotherapy and radiation treatments used to treat cancer can trigger early menopause. This is because as a result of the treatments, there can be ovarian damage. Damaged ovaries will not produce healthy eggs if they produce any at all. Ovarian damage from other surgical procedures can also trigger early menopause.

Another cause of early menopause is a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) and an oophorectomy (ovary removal). Removal of both ovaries is a lateral oophorectomy. Removal of the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries is a total hysterectomy. When any one of these procedures is performed, hormone le

vels drop and with a total hysterectomy, there is a quicker drop in hormone levels.

Symptoms of Early Menopause

The symptoms of early menopause are very similar to menopause as it occurs naturally in life. They may include any one or more of the following: hot flashes/night sweats, vaginal dryness, mood swings, and depression. Fatigue, low energy, weight gain, and incontinence can occur, as can aging skin, changes in hair quality, irregular periods and breast tenderness. If you suspect you are in either early or natural menopause, you should talk to your doctor to find relief for these symptoms. There are treatment options.

Treatment Options

For some women all you may need is some simple changes to your life style. Limit alcohol and quit smoking. A healthy diet and good exercise will help to alleviate some symptoms as well. Be open with your partner about what you want and possible changes in your sex lives.

HRT- hormone replacement therapy is a pharmaceutical option. Estrogen and progesterone (female hormones) levels are balanced with the use of synthetic hormones. There are some very serious and potentially fatal side effects including heart attacks and strokes.

An alternative treatment may be herbal supplements. Herbal supplements may have any one or more of the following ingredients: Black Cohosh, Chaste Berry, Damiana, Red Clover, Sarsaparilla, and Tribulus Terrestris. Another prominent ingredient is 5-HTP-5 hydroxytryptophan. Together these herbs and nutritive substances are beneficial to menopausal and early menopausal symptoms.

In order to ensure you are getting the highest quality supplements, the metabolic paths of the ingredients should be tested at the molecular level and the interaction of the ingredients should be tested. The herbs in the supplement should only be from standardized herbal extracts because this is where the active ingredients are found.

When manufactured, the supplements should be made according to pharmaceutical grade standards. Before adding herbal supplements to your health plan, be sure to talk to your doctor as some herbs can affect the performance of drugs you may be taking for other health conditions.

Conclusion

Conception despite early menopause can occur. This can be explained because with such irregular periods, it is difficult to tell when you are fertile or not. Some women continue to ovulate until their periods have fully stopped after a full year. If you suspect you might be in early menopause or are in early menopause and think you might be pregnant, consult with your doctor so you can get proper care.

Be sure to click <a

Early menopause can hit in the 20s, 30s, or early 40s and take a woman by surprise. Menopause symptoms are associated with egg stores in the body. When egg supplies near an end, no matter the age of the woman, menopause symptoms will start.

Symptoms of Early Menopause

The symptoms of early change of life are identical to those of natural menopause. Women will often start missing periods here and there and expect, if the situation is right, they are pregnant. Pregnancy tests will come back negative and a menstrual cycle may come naturally or via contraception controlled cycles.

Mood swings, vaginal dryness, and loss of libido are also common symptoms, but age often supersedes even the vaguest idea of menopause. When menstrual cycles stop, women typically wait a few cycles and then seek help from a gynecologist who will diagnose early menopause. Diagnosis typically includes a detailed history and blood tests to measure estradiol, or estrogen, levels in the blood. Levels below 36 could mean early change of life.

Is There a Way to Stop Early Change of Life?

There is no known way of stopping early change of life. Women are often deep into symptoms by the time they seek medical attention, but even with early detection doctors are not capable of stopping menopause. Women who are heading into premature or early menopause may choose to have eggs h<div

Women who suffer from early menopause are without the protection of estrogen for a longer time and thus these risks are heightened. Hormone replacement therapy and estrogen replacement therapy is often a viable option to reduce risks associated with early menopause but these treatments come with risks of their own.

Change of life can be associated with a diminished egg supply, chemotherapy treatments, radiation, and certain diseases processes. Some experts believe early menopause is a protective reaction to illness, disease, and treatment as pregnancy occurring during these times could prove fatal to mother and / or child.

If a woman feels she may be facing change of life, a simple estrogen test can rule out the theory or prove it correct. Early detection can mean all the difference for a woman who wants to be a mother in her menopausal future.

Information on Fertility and Pregnancy you can Trust.

Amos Grunebaum M.D. is a practicing obstetrician and gynecologist in one of the top 10 hospitals in the United States. Most of such cases are results of any medical condition or in some cases are induced due to some kind of treatment related to some diseases. If you are suffering from early menopause then here are some causes that might hold true for your case.

Premature ovarian failure also known as Primary ovarian insufficiency (POI), is a major cause of the early set in of menopause. This disease means the loss of the normal function of the ovaries before the age of 40. The cause of POI is still unknown but it is often said to be related to genetic changes or auto immune disorders.

Another cause of early menopause is the surgical removal of the ovaries. These surgeries are done as a treatment for ovarian cancer, breast cancer or diseases such as uterine fibroids, endometriosis or pelvic inflammatory diseases. Removal of ovaries lead to decreased level of estrogen and therefore causes early menopause.

Use of chemotherapy as a preventive measure for treatment of cancer also leads to early menopause. This is because chemotherapy affects both the healthy as well as the cancerous cells of the body. The ovaries are often affected by the chemotherapy and fail to produce healthy eggs and female hormones.

Radiation therapy used to prevent cancer in the pelvic area is another cause of early menopause. This is because the ovaries are located in that area and therefore with the cancerous cells, the healthy ce<div

Many women prefer these to the hormone therapy.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle and having balanced diet is a good way of preventing the problems such as vaginal dryness, hot flashes and irritability and so on. You should cut the intake of caffeine, alcohol and smoking and exercise regularly along with having a good diet with lots of fluid to keep these problems away.

Yoga, paced breathing exercises and acupuncture are the other ways of successfully keeping in control the problems related to menopause such as hot flashes.

Medicines such as gabapentin, serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) are found to be useful in many women suffering from issues related to early menopause. Even plant based products such as black cohosh or phytoestrogens are also found to be useful for treating these problems.

Other treatment includes vaginal lubricants and vaginal moisturizers that are available over the counter and are found to be useful in providing momentary relief to the irritations.

However, before taking any medication, it is always advisable, that you consult a doctor and discuss your medical history with him or her and then take the medicines as suggested.

It is now possible to treat problems of <a

Before you assume it’s menopause, look over the other possibilities.

Night sweats in young women can occur for multiple reasons. This usually begins in the late 40′s but it is also known to start in the late 30′s.

Menopause itself is when your periods stop for over twelve months.

Reasons for Early Menopause

There are a number of reasons which leads to early menopause. Autoimmune disorders and chromosomal integrity are a few causes. It may also be possible that a woman’s mother contracted a viral infection during pregnancy that caused the fetus’ ovaries to develop improperly. This can cause the number of eggs to be lower than normal, leading to early menopause.

The only way to truly determine whether those night sweats are caused by early menopause is by consulting with your doctor. The length of time you have gone without a period will be reviewed, and a test of Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) levels will be checked.

If you receive confirmation that you are in fact going through menopause, don’t worry.
