By: Charlene Nuble
The possibility of Graves disease and premature menopause affecting you at the same time is high. This is because it can possibly cause premature menopause. This disease is a form of hyperthyroidism. It is an autoimmune disease wherein a person’s immune system attacks the thyroid gland mistakenly. And so, the gland overproduces the hormone thyroxin. When the body has too much thyroxin, palpitations, heat intolerance, fast heart rate, trembling ands, and fatigue could happen.

Graves’ disease is common in women aged 20 and above. And it being an autoimmune disease, it causes a number of health problems. One symptom is light menstrual periods. And this is the very thing that connects Graves disease and premature menopause together.

Premature menopause happens to women who are less than 40 years of age. It is a fact that women experience a full fertility period of 30 years. Therefore, if their first menstruation occurred when they are 13 years old, menopause is set to come when they reach 43. But for women suffering from Graves’ disease, menopause could occur way before that time. Without doubt, Graves disease and premature menopause can certainly cause a huge turnaround in a woman’s life.

But then again, acquiring Graves disease and premature menopause [http://graves-disease-treatment.blogspot.com/2007/09/best-treatment-for-graves-disease.html] doesn’t indicate the end of the world. You can be affected with these health problems and still get the most out of life. All you have to do is to undergo the right treatment and recovery therapy. Anyway, this disease is rarely a life-threatening disease. Observing the proper health care would help a lot.

Charlene J. This is known as premature menopause.

Symptoms of premature menopause may include the following:

Irregular periods or missed periods

Heavier or lighter than usual periods

Hot flashes over the upper body

Vaginal dryness

Emotional changes such as mood swings, mild depression and irritability

Low libido

Insomnia

A simple blood test should be able to determine ovarian failure or POF, premature ovarian failure. Further blood tests will also detect low levels of estrogen and progesterone which will help determine if your ovaries are functioning normally. Low levels of estrogen can lead to changes in your overall health and increase your risk of diseases such as osteoporosis, colon and ovarian cancer. Women who undergo premature menopause are at a higher risk because they spend a greater portion of their lives without the protective benefits of their own estrogen.

Unfortunately premature menopause cannot be reversed. Once the process has started, it’s highly unlikely it will reverse. As the body changes it’s important to alter your lifestyle to accommodate the changes. A healthy lifestyle is very important because your body can handle the changes better with proper nutrition and exercise. Unlike perimenopause, which is a natural condition that refers to the years leading up to or around menopause, premature menopause refers to menopause that occurs in a woman under the age of 40. Premature menopause symptoms are basically the same as the symptons of menopause.

Premature menopause symptoms include irregular periods that are heavier or lighter than usual and hot flashes. Some women experience vaginal dryness, irritable bladder or bladder control issues, mood swings, dry skin, sleeplessness and decreased libido. These are typical symptons of menopause; the number and degree of severity that a woman experiences varies.

Medical procedures that can cause premature menopause include chemotherapy or radiation therapy and surgical removal of the ovaries. Radiation therapy does not always cause premature menopause, as treatment does not always damage the ovaries. Hysterectomy sometimes includes removal of the ovaries, but not in all cases. Surgical procedures performed to treat colon and rectal cancer sometimes involves removal of the ovaries. Cervical cancer that does not respond to surgery and radiation sometimes leads to the removal of most of the organs in the pelvis, including the ovaries.

Some women appear to be genetically predisposed to premature menopause. If your mother or sister was diagnosed with premature menopause then you should see your doctor if you begin to have any of the symptons of menopause listed<div

Did you know that the age that Menopause usually rear’s it’s ugly head is 51 in the United States. But the problem is this age seems to lower ever so slightly each year. Because of the environment we live in which includes what we eat, medical procedures and even your genetics. We are starting to see women go through menopause as early as 40.

This is known as Premature Menopause. So you must be asking what are the symptoms of this and how do I know I have it. As Premature Menopause can be mistaken for being pregnant as initial symptoms are similar. There are been a few cases where this has happened now and I do not presume they will stop there.

Premature Menopause Symptoms include all your usual culprits like Hot Flashes, Mood Swings, Sweats, Trouble sleeping at night etc… The major additional concern is that Menopause is a way of the body signaling it is ending the fertile stage of life. Which as you can already imagine means that you will struggle to get pregnant if you are trying.

The other concerning point of Premature Menopause is that it can effect your Sex Drive. At a young age this can be detrimental to relationships so always keep your partner in the know about what you are going through.

How do you Diagnose the Premature Menopause Symptoms?

I really suggest in my experience to go and see a doctor. They will usually Perform a physical exam and may draw blood to just make sure it is not another condition they might miss. Thyroid Disease and Pregnancy are the most common misdiagnosed condition
<img

Do not be scared if the doctor orders a estradiol level test as this is what will tell them whether the ovaries are starting to fail. If the levels are below 38 it may mean that you have started the process in to menopause.

The final test that will be performed and some say the most important is a Follicle Stimulating Hormone Test(I know it’s a mouthful).

What is premature menopause? How would a woman know if she’s prematurely menopausal? What could she do about it? The answers are in the next lines.

What is premature menopause?

A woman who experiences menopausal symptoms as early as 40 (or even earlier) can be said to be prematurely menopausal. On average, menopause comes when a woman hits the age of 50.

This, of course, differs from one woman to another; but for the sake of proper terminology, any number lower than 50 is considered early in menopausal terms.

Possible causes of early menopause

Early onset of menopause could be due to natural causes or it could be medically induced. When we talk about natural causes, this means that the onset just naturally occurs.

It might be genetic; meaning, it runs in the family. Or it just occurs without a woman undergoing any medical operation or without taking any drugs or medications.

Medically induced, on the other hand, is when menopause is triggered by certain medications taken such as anticancer drugs and chemotherapy; or by undergoing medical or surgical operation, such as the removal of the ovaries. Autoimmune diseases are also said to make a woman susceptible to early menopause.

Early menopause vs. premature ovarian failure

Premature menopausal condition is also often referred to as premature ovarian failure. However, there are slight differences between the two. The latter is characterized by an inability of the ovaries to produce<div

These could include hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, decreased sex drive, trouble sleeping, vaginal dryness, loss of bladder control, lack of focus, joint pain and skin and eye dryness among others.

Dealing with the early onslaught

There are various ways to deal with premature menopause symptoms. One is to use hormone replacement therapy, another is to take over the counter or prescribed medications, and another still is to opt for natural cures or herbal medications.

Premature menopause does not necessarily mean that a woman’s time of fun is also prematurely ended. Eating healthy, exercising and doing without cigarettes and alcohol will greatly help in alleviating symptoms.

Rachel writes articles about men’s and women’s health issues.

Menopause is a very natural process that women typically experience in the late forties or early fifties. However for some women menopause begins to set in a lot earlier, hitting them before their forties. This is often due to genetics, illness, medications, or certain procedures.

Early menopause can present an additional emotional strain when it strikes women trying to conceive. It is important for you to recognize the premature menopause symptoms so that you can discuss any concerns that you may have with your health care provider.

Premature menopause symptoms are largely the same symptoms that women experience when going through normal menopause and include:

-	Missed periods or cycles that are irregular

-	Periods that change and become either heavier or lighter than what you normally experience

-	Hot flashes

It is important to note that these premature menopause symptoms are re-occurring. Having one month in which you are late, irregular, or lighter than normal may not be any reason for concern since many things can influence and interfere with your normal cycle such as stress, illness, medications, loosing or gaining weight, etc. However if they occur on more than one occasion and seem to be developing a new pattern then they may be premature menopause symptoms and you may want to discuss this with your doctor.

In addition to the traditional symptoms above, other premature menopause symptoms for some women may also include the following:

-	Excessive dryness of the vaginal area along with very dry<div

We are all busy, but at this important time in your life you need to buy out the time for you. Make sure you are getting adequate sleep each night.

To get sleep, block out noise and light. Try using aromatherapy spray for your bed to help you relax and fall asleep more easily at night. Or, try taking natural herbal treatments to help balance out your hormones because that is what many women turn to. So if you experiencing premature menopause symptoms it is important that you speak with your health care provider to determine what options might be available for you.

Sherry Harris is the author of the successful e-book “101 Amazingly Simple Ways to Beat Insomnia”. The first question many women have is “How will premature menopause affect me?”

Menopause is not just something that happens to older women. Younger women can experience menopause at a much younger than normal age. Premature menopause symptoms affect women under 40 years old who are experiencing many of the signs of this phase of life. Just imagine the emotional impact that this can have on a young woman. Menopause – which is never easy – can be exceptionally draining emotionally for women who suffer from it early in their lives.

Premature ovarian failure, when your body’s immune system attacks itself and causes the ovaries to stop functioning, can be one cause of early onset menopause. Surgery can also cause early menopause. Menopause can occur rapidly as a result of ovarian surgery or a hysterectomy, both of which cause hormone levels to drop immediately. When you have a hysterectomy, even if the ovaries are not removed, they may be damaged by the procedure or have their blood supply affected, then falter and cause premature symptoms of menopause.

You may also experience premature menopause when you have your tubes tied. The excessive weight loss caused by anorexia is one of the other causes of this condition. You should determine the age at which your mother went through menopause. Because there are so many other pos<div

Women who experience menopause naturally may have fewer symptoms than younger women, whose symptoms may be more severe as they enter premature menopause.

It is tough to go through menopause at an early age, and you may find it helpful to find and join a support group to help you through this challenging time. It can be difficult for a woman to lose her ability to bear children, and she should be allowed time and space to deal with this change. Don’t underestimate the value of support from your family and friends.

Take the time to comprehend and accept the emotions and changes of premature menopause. Be forthright and honest in expressing your thoughts and feelings. Please keep in mind that this did not happen as a result of something you did or didn’t do. Guilt could make an emotional situation worse. Give yourself time to grieve; there is time later to discuss your options.

Do you think you might be experiencing <a
